Do not test your foundation shade on your arm! Your arms tend to be darker than your face. Test your foundation on your jawline.
Always set your foundation and concealer with a powder. If not, you'll get oily and your makeup with crease throughout the day.
The shade of bronzer, blush and highlighter you use does matter. You want to pick a shade that compliments your skin. Lighter shades of blush and bronzer with create a softer, natural look and darker shades will create a bolder look.
Highlight the inner corner of your eyes to make them appear brighter. Who doesn't want their eyes to pop?!?
Fill in and shape your eyebrows. Eyebrows pull the makeup look together. Follow your natural eyebrows as much as possible.
Apply bronzer just below your cheekbones. This will create dimension and make your cheekbones pop.
Blush goes on the apples of your cheeks. Smile and lightly dab blush onto the part of your face where your cheeks pop out above your smile.
Use foundation, concealer or eyeshadow primer to set your eye makeup. This will help your eyeshadow to stay looking fresh all day.
Line your lips with a lip liner before using lipstick. Lip liner prevents bleeding or smudging along the edges of your lips.
Concealer looks better over foundation. Concealer can be used after foundation to help cover a few spots that are still showing.
It doesn't matter whether you do you eye makeup or your face makeup first.
Concealer should be a shade or two lighter than your foundation. If you apply a shade of concealer that is darker or is as dark as your foundation and then apply powder, you're going to look blotchy.
You should ALWAYS wash your makeup off before bed.
Having the right brushes makes a difference.
A light neutral shade of eyeshadow should be used as a base under your other eyeshadow. This will make the colors appear as vivid as in the palette.
Darker eyeshadow goes in the crease and outer corners of your eye.
BLEND YOUR EYESHADOW!
Use your nose and natural arch to guide the shape of your eyebrow. Hold your makeup brush on the outer edge of your nose, straight up. That is where your eyebrows should begin.
Moisturize and exfoliate your lips before you apply lipstick. If not, your lipstick is more likely to get chunky.
Put a lighter color of lipstick in the center of your lips to make them appear fuller.
Figure out your eye shape and apply eyeshadow that enhances your natural eye shape. For example, people with hooded eyes look better with a darker eyeshadow blended into the crease of their eye to make it appear more open.
Blend highlight underneath your eyebrows. This will help brighten and frame your face.
Apply eyeliner in short strokes to make an even line.
Exfoliate your skin to have even skin to apply makeup on. This will give your makeup a more smooth look.
Use a primer and moisturizer underneath your makeup. The moisturizer with give your face a smooth base and the primer will help your makeup stick and last longer.
